The Bethany Home for the Aged is one of the most meaningful humanitarian initiatives of the CSI South Kerala Diocese. It attempts to provide a homely ambiance to the elderly who for various reasons cannot avail the comforts of their families and offers a retirement space for all those who prefer to be by themselves.

The Home is being built on a strip of land donated by Late. Dr. Frederick Lazarus in memory of his father Rev. Lazarus who did yeomen service in the South Kerala Diocese.

It has been functioning for the last 18 years under ‘Bethelgram’ providing life care for 59 inmates. The Bethelgram- Bethany Home for the Aged is a non profit charitable institution is situated at Mukkola, in Thiruvananthapuram.

The Bethelgram is functioning in a building sufficient to accommodate not more than the present capacity of 50 inmates. It owns nearly 3.5 acres of land and as such is capable to provide land space for construction of buildings and paraphernalia for a large number of beneficiaries. Every year the institution gets more than 100 applicants for accommodation of senior citizens from throughout Kerala, and called by both private and government agencies. However, the organization is not capable of addressing the needs and demands due to financial constraints. We need sufficient various vistas of health care, personal care, nutritive care, psychological care and social care for successful and efficient running of larger capacity of old age and similar care and support institutions.
